Today we left Cherry Valley at 2:30 pm. We had a late start and are not going to arrive at the destination planned. (Sioux Falls or Sioux Springs). We ate at Red Roof Diner and camped at Pine Lake. The bathrooms are spotless and showers nice. We are on Site #74. Pine Lake is a 668 acre State Park in Eldora, Iowa. We both fell asleep early tonight because we overworked ourselves last week.

Hung out at campground while Eric did work. We left campsite around noon. We drove until we hit KOA in near Chamberlain? We stopped at Walmart also. Uneventful…it rained. Also great showers….lol

Today we woke up early. We are headed towards Badlands and are going to stay on the wall. We will also go to Wall Drug. The weather has calmed down here . It is in the 70’s. The heat has been awful (100’s). We bought everything Huckleberry at Wall Drug. (mints, tea, coffee, taffy, jellybeans, candy, licorice, lotion, etc.) The store owners laughed at us.
Had fire on cliff and ate hamburgers, asparagus, and corn on the cobb. Eric took close ups of antelope on cliff. Amazing. It just kept coming towards him. Monger stood behind Eric and was nervous but obeyed his commands. Soo soo Cool.

We slept in a little. When I took out the dogs there were 4 tents on the wall right next to us. Apparently this group came after we went to bed. THere were four guys and the girls were chicken as they were in a tent across the road safely by the car. LOL.
We drove to Wall Drug Again. We bought my jackalope hat and went through a lot of stores. I got a new leather belt. My old belt that I made at camp in Michigan finally died. I had done all of the leather work on that. I like my new belt but not the same.
We ate breakfast at Red Rock Restaurant. We went back to camp and loaded up for next adventure. We got to Rapid City and love the town. Prices are too high. We went to Best Buy because Eric’s phone is dying.
We ate at Mckenzie River and had Huckleberry stuff. Our drinks were huckleberry and I had huckleberry flatbread. We bought Huckleberry T-shirts.
The plan is to go to Black Hill’s and boondock. We drove through Deadwood and Lead. Interesting little towns. They remind me of Galena. It took us awhile to find a book-docking place. Not many forest roads. We had to get to Wyoming in order to find a good one and boy did we ever. We had some advice by the son in law of the rancher that owned most of the land. He guided us to a good spot.

Slept in and it had cooled off during the night. Eric made breakfast of potatoes, eggs, bacon. Went in to Deadwood and went through stores. We went to bar where Wild Bill Hikcock was shot. We didn’t spend the money on the 10 tour that goes below the bar and is the actual place.
On the drive on 14A we saw a spot where Dances with Wolves was shot. Very cool. Tomorrow is Big Horn boondocking.
June 14th
I slept in and walked in the morning. We left our perfect Black Hills boondocking site at around 1:30. We drove to Big Horn. Our new site is amazing. We saw an Elk eating on the road while we were searching for spot. It was amazing. The site is surrounded by yellow sundrops and purple lupine. It is surreal. We are cooking brats, potatoes and squash. We have crappy signal even though Eric put up antenae.

Left site and took long way so we could see all of Big Horn. Amazing. Our next stop is AB camping in Cheyenne Wyoming. It was a kind of drab campsite. I didn’t do too well with this site. The electric was malfunctioning.
